Dr Lawrence Yuen, MBBS, BSc (med), FRACS
Dr Yuen is a general, hepatobiliary, pancreatic and transplant surgeon at Westmead Hospital, Norwest Private and Westmead Private Hospitals. He is a medical graduate of UNSW and completed general surgical training through the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery in 2010.
Post-fellowship, Dr Yuen completed a year of training in kidney and pancreas transplantation at Westmead hospital. He then continued with a second post fellowship year at the Princess Alexandra hospital, Liver unit, Brisbane where he undertook further training in kidney and liver transplantation and further developed his skills in complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
Dr Yuen is a Clinical Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Sydney Medical School. He is also the Network Director surgical skills training for Western Sydney. He is a member of his specialty societies including the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australia and New Zealand Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association, General Surgeons Australia. He also sits on the Transplant Advisory Committee of NSW.
He is well experienced in complex liver and pancreatic resection and has expertise in laparoscopic surgery for diseases of the gallbladder, liver, pancreas, adrenal, spleen. Within general surgery, he has a special interest for all hernia repair, both open and laparoscopic, including hiatus hernia and antireflux surgery.
