Australia first robotic kidney transplant

On 21st June 2016, Prof Howard Lau together with Prof Lam and the team performed the Australia first robotic kidney transplant at Westmead Private Hospital.

On 24th January 2017, Dr Yuen and Prof Lam together with Prof Lau will perform the second robotic kidney transplant.

We look forward to pushing the boundary of surgery and providing better care to our patients.

Prof Lam re-elected as President, ACMA

Prof Lam was re-elected for a second term as the President of the Australian Chinese Medical Association (ACMA) on 27th October 2016. ACMA has been widely recognised as the peak medical organisation formed by Chinese doctors with involvement in various community projects. Attached picture was taken at the recent annual ACMA charity dinner with other ACMA Office Bearers and the trustees of ACMA Trust (fourth from the right is Prof Lam).

Dr Yuen and Prof Lam published research

Dr Yuen and Prof Lam published research

Dr Yuen and Prof Lam published innovative research in the latest issue of International Journal of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases. In the cases of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy (e.g. patients with severe acute cholecystitis), laparoscopic partial cholecystectomy could be performed in experienced hand with no bile duct injury or perioperative mortality. This adds further evidence to suggest laparoscopic partial cholecystectomy as a viable alternative to open conversion in cases of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
